Morning Task

I know how much you all enjoy our morning task activities, especially the word of the day, so I would like you to complete a morning task sheet every day this week.  They are on the document below and clearly labelled for each day.  Please continue writing your fanastic, opening paragraphs and even stories (if you'd like) including the word of the day.  It would be wonderful if you could email me these so I can read them.  You always make me so proud with the incredible way you use these words and your wonderful imagination!

Hello Year 6,

This week in Maths we will be revising some of the key mathematical concepts you learnt in Year 5.  These include, common factors and multiples, prime numbers, squared and cubed numbers.  We will also be looking at a new concept where we look at the order of operations with some quite tricky equations.  Don't worry though, I've made sure I've included the White Rose support video to help you.  Don't pause the video half-way through when it says.  Let it play all the way through like we sometimes do in class :-)

Please try and complete the first sheet on each day and if you feel confident try the challenge question :-) I've also included the answers so you can mark your work like we do in class.  All of the work for the week is on the PowerPoint below.  Please remember not to worry if you're unable to complete, you can either email me with your questions or I will go over with you next week when we are back in school.

English

As we are not in school this week I have decided to take a break from Christmas Carol and start again when we are back in school.  I love the topic and want us to be able to discuss Scrooge, face-to-face in class!

I have therefore decided for us to do a six lesson module on 'Gadgets'.  It's lots of fun and I think you're really going to enjoy it!  Attached below is a booklet which includes all of the activities for the 6 days.  There is also a PowerPoint for you to follow.

Everyday I will let you know in my video what I'd like you to complete.

Monday 9th November - Please crack the codes on page 2, then find your spy name on page 3.  Complete activity 1 on page 5 finding the synonyms for the words from the text.

Tuesday 10th November  - Write a paragraph persuading me to buy a derelict house, page 6, activity 2,  then read the persuasive text on page 7 about 'The Multi-Function Mobile Phone' looking at the key features of the text completing activity 4.

Wednesday 11th November - Write 1-3 quotes, activity 5, for a gadget either from the examples on page 10 or one you have created.  Then start planning the key features, activity 6, for this gadget looking at the sub-headings on page 11.

Thursday 12th Novemember - Draw your gadget for activity 7 on page 11.  Please make sure you label it accurately.  Plan your persuasive text for your gadget.  Use the table to help you on page 11, activity 8.
