Gaudete Sunday - let us rejoice!

This Sunday - the third Sunday of Advent - is known as Gaudete Sunday and we light the pink candle on our advent wreath.  The word 'Gaudete' in Latin means 'rejoice' - we rejoice that Christ is coming. Since Pope John Paul II this Sunday is also called BAMBINELLI SUNDAY to commemorate the blessing of the GESU BAMBINO [baby Jesus]. POPE FRANCIS ENCOURAGES  us this year to honour BAMBINELLI SUNDAY by blessing family crib's 'Baby Jesus' which each family can bring to Mass on that weekend. We will ask the children and families to bring the figure up to the Altar before the Final Blessing of Mass this coming Sunday. In this Sunday's Gospel, we hear about John the Baptist, who even though in the depth of prison darkness, never took his eyes off the Lord and heard God speak to him.  'Do not lose faith!' We all experience fear, anxiety and even panic in one form or another.  Let us look to John the Baptist, who did not lose heart but kept Jesus always in sight.  In our testing times the Holy Spirit gives us the grace to hold tight and cling to him.

Adverse Weather Conditions - Closure in advance of a school day

A reminder of the procedure if the school was to close in advance of the school day.  The Principal will make the decision to close the school and a text message will be sent to parents by 7am on the day of the closure. A message will also be added to the home page of the school website.  The Principal will also contact the Local Authority and local radio stations to advise of the school closure.  Please ensure that the school office has your latest mobile contact number if this has changed recently.

Coats 4 Christmas

As Winter approaches we are all getting our warm coats ready to wear. Probably we have ones that are no longer suitable, needed or being replaced. If you wish to donate to people who are not as fortunate as ourselves, please bring any unwanted coats for any age - children's, male and female. Any other warm clothing such as jumpers will be accepted. These can be left in the large chest in the church porch over the next few weeks and will be distributed to those in need in our communities. Thank you for your continued support for those less fortunate in our local community.

Prayer of the Week - Dedication to our Parish

God our Father, as a Parish this day we re-dedicate our whole lives to the service of your Church, With confidence, we present our heartfelt prayers to You. We ask you to bless this Parish Community, our homes, our families. Strengthen with your peace all our days. We commend ourselves to the protection of Mary, our Lady, the Mother of Jesus, Mother of the Church. Through her prayers may we be preserved from all evil influences, now and at the hour of our death. This prayer we ask in the Name of Jesus who lives and reigns with you, the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
