Time to Say Goodbye

As we come to the end of another school year, I would like to thank all of our staff and volunteers (including our Academy Committee members) for their continued dedication and commitment to improving the lives of every child here at St. Joseph's.  I also thank our parents for supporting the school and their children too.  It is with great sadness that we say farewell to Mrs Jenkins, Mrs Rowley and Miss Brissett and wish them every succes and happiness for the new journey in their lives.  We also say goodbye to our Year 6 children as they prepare to move onto secondary school and the next stage in their education and faith journey. Wishing all our children, parents and families a very happy and safe summer holiday.  We look forward to seeing you all again on Wednesday 4th September at 8.55am.

Parent Volunteers Required this Summer

We are looking for parent helpers to support with jobs around school during the school summer holidays so that the classrooms look tip-top when the children return in September.  If you are able to pick up a paint brush on either Saturday 3rd August or Wednesday 7th August, then please contact Mrs McCormack at hayleymccormack@yahoo.co.uk by 1st August.  Thank you!

Movie Afternoons in the Summer at OLAS

Amy, a former member of St. Joseph's School, has been selected to travel to Peru as a representative of the Girl Guides in August 2020. During this time, she will teach children English through games and activities.  As part of her fundraising programme, she has chosen to undertake a community service project in a school.  There will be two screening of films for children to come along and watch which will be held at Our Lady and All Saints Parish Centre.  Screening 1, on Thursday 1st August, will be 'Mary Poppins Returns' and Screening 2, 'Ralph Breaks the Internet', will take place on Wednesday 28th August.  Both screenings start at 2pm and only cost £3 per child which includes popcorn and a drink.  For further information please call 07941 620567.

Summer Fayre Success

Thank you to our PTA team for coordinating this year's summer fayre.  A profit of £1,950 has been raised which will go back into school to support all pupils with much needed resources.  Further details about how this money will be spent will be outlined next term.  Thank you to all parents, family members, staff and parishioners who suported this event too.  This really shows what a difference a dedicated PTA can make! However, we need your help so that the PTA can continue with this greatly needed support. Please contact the school office in September if you are able to help next year.

Dudley School Dinners

From September 2019, the price of school dinners will increase to £2.40 per day to include a drink of squash or water. As part of an initiative to reduce plastic waste, the children will no longer have the option to buy bottles/cartons of water/juice at lunchtime. Children in Years 1 up to Year 6 will be able to purchase toast or fruit at tuck times for 20p.

The children in Reception class, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to Universal Free School Meals. The children in Year 3 up to Year 6 can purchase a school dinner for £2.40 per day. Please make cheques for dinner payable to DMBC.

Virtues Focus - Intentional and Prophetic

Children in St. Joseph's School are growing to be intentional in the way they live and use the resources of the earth, guided by conscience; and prophetic in the example they set to others.

Prayer of the Week

Lord God, you have blessed us in our relationship with you and with our friends. Our school has shared many things this past year. We were linked by common tasks and time together. Today, we end our school year. This is a time of praise and a time of thanks. Lord, bless our children, teachers and staff, especially those we will not see again next term. Keep each of us in your care both during the coming summer and throughout our lives. Guide our steps and strengthen our hearts, until we gather once again in your Kingdom. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Pope's Intention for July

That those who administer justice may work with integrity, and that the injustice which prevails in the world may not have the last word.
