Palm Sunday and Holy Week - The final stage in our Lenten journey

This coming Sunday is known as Palm Sunday and is the start of Holy Week.  Palms will be handed out in Church in remembrance of the welcome and great praise that people gave to Jesus when he entered Jerusalem.  As we grow in our knowledge and love of Jesus, it is natural to want to praise God. This Sunday's Gospel reminds us that there are many things for which we can give praise to God - a loving family, good friends, caring teachers.  Praising God brings happiness: it is what were are made for.  As we enter this final part of our Lenten journey, let us think of all the good things which we have received from God and make time for quiet prayer to reflect upon this. It is unfortunate that our children are not in school next week to experience Holy Week together as as school community.  However, there are opportunities to take your child/ren to the services over the Easter weekend.  These will be noted within this weekend's parish newsletter.

Happy Easter and Happy Holidays

It has been strange not be in school with you this week as I continue my recovery from a knee operation last week.  As we end another term, I would like to thank all members of staff and volunteers for their continued support to the children and families of St. Joseph's School.  I wish you all a very happy and rested Easter break and look forward to seeing you all once again on Monday 29th April as we begin the final term of the academic year.

Summer term Mass - Feast of St. Joseph the Worker

Please join us on Wednesday 1st May for the first Mass of our Summer term at 9.10am as we celebrate the feast day of St. Joseph the Worker.  We also keep Fr. Des in our prayers during this week as he will be celebrating the 38th year of his ordination on Thursday 2nd May.  We thank God for Fr. Des' continued service, care and support to us all as a school and and parish community.
