Coming of the Holy Spirit

This Sunday we welcome Bishop David McGough back to the Parish to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation with our Year 6 pupils.  The Confirmandi have been working hard to prepare for this wonderful occasion which recognises these young people as full members of the Church community. We thank our staff, sponsors and parents who have supported our young people in their continued journey of faith. This Sunday's Gospel reminds us about spreading the Good News (Gospel) to all people. At Pentecost, Jesus' disciples were filled with the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit to spread the Good News. May our Confirmandi be given the strength and courage to be witnesses to Jesus through their words and actions too.  Please keep these children in your prayers.

Nut Allergies in School

Please be aware that  some children in school have a nut allergy. Please be vigilant to check food labels on snacks, lunch box items and any food items sent in to school.

PE and School Sport Update

Congratulations to the team of 11 children from Years 5 and 6 who represented St. Joseph's at yesterday's Primary Sportshall Athletics Competition at OSH School.  It was a very closely contested event and St. Joseph's were placed 3rd out of 11 teams.  Unfortunately, only the top two teams progress onto the Dudley finals.  Well done to the team for being great ambassadors of the school.

Year 4 Cake Sale

Thank you for your generosity in supporting Year 4's cake sale to raise funds for the "Build a Brick" campaign for Project Gambia. Congratulations to Year 4 who have raised £78.37.

Vacancy for a Lunchtime Supervisor

We have a vacancy for a Lunchtime Supervisor, Monday to Friday 12.00pm-1.25pm each day. If you are interested or know someone who might be contact the school office for more details.

Donations of girls' clothes

St. Chad's Sanctuary is a place of welcome for Asylum Seekers and Refugees. Their aim is to make people welcome through the provision of practical support, English classes and welfare support. They URGENTLY need donations of good quality girls' clothing aged between 7 and 11. Please bring any donations to the school office for collection by Friday 1st February. Many thanks for your continued support for those in need.

Fizz Free February

Fizz Free February is coming to Dudley for the first time, will you be making the pledge to #gofizzfree?

Could you and your family give up fizzy drinks for February?

Taking part in Fizz Free February is a great way to reduce your sugar intake by cutting out fizzy drinks. It can also help you on your way to drinking fewer sugary drinks for the rest of the year.
Three great reasons to go Fizz Free
  • you can save £438 a year if you stop drinking one bottle of soft drink, per day, for a year
  • drinking just one 330ml can of fizzy drink a day could add up to over a stone weight gain per year
  • Make your pledge by tweeting @dudleymbc or @LetsgethealthyD using #gofizzfree or sign up at www.lets-get.com

Virtues Focus - Eloquent and Truthful

Pupils at St. Joseph's are growing to be Eloquent and truthful in what they say of themselves, the relations between people, and the world.

    Prayer of the Week

Pour out your Spirit upon your people, and grant us a new vision of your glory, a new experience of your power, a new faithfulness to your word, a new consecration to your service, that your love may grow among us, and your kingdom come; through Christ, our Lord, Amen.

    Pope's Intention for January

    Evangelization - Young People:
That young people, especially in Latin America, follow the example of Mary and respond to the call of the Lord to communicate the joy of the Gospel to the world.
