St. Joseph's Got Talent

This Sunday's Gospel reminds us to use our talents well. When Jesus told this parable, the 'talent' he was speaking about was a sum of money - a weight of silver or gold. In our time, the word 'talent' describes the special qualities or abilities which people have. The marvellous thing about human beings is that everyone has a special talent, something unique, which only that person can contribute to the world. If we think of the talents which people around us have, instead of thinking of their faults, it helps to make the world a more joyful and encouraging place. Using our talents just for our own enjoyment can be like hiding our talents in the ground. How much better to use them to bring happiness to others. This week we have been celebrating the uniqueness of every person, made in the image and likeness of God. Everyone is different but equal making up the whole unique community of St. Joseph's School.

Spread reading around for just a pound

Many thanks for supporting Abooku, the UK based charity which is helping to buy reading resources for children in The Gambia. A total of £171.75 has been raised so far. Additional copies are available from the school office if you have not bought one as yet. We are in the process of establishing our links with another Catholic School in The Gambia and we will keep you posted on how this progresses.
