The Laity's Mission in the Church
We pray that by the virtue of baptism, the laity, especially women, may participate more in areas of responsibility in the Church.
In this Sunday’s Gospel, the servants represent God’s messengers (the Prophets) and the tenants of the vineyard represent the leaders of Israel at that time. Jesus told this story because some of the leaders were not listening to God’s messengers. In many ways we are like ‘tenants’ in this world. The messengers that God sends today remind us that God has a great plan for our lives. We are created for everlasting life and, for now, we are here to share, enjoy and develop what God gives to us in this life.
Pope Francis reminds us, “May you always be messengers of peace and goodwill.” October is the month in which Pope Francis asks every member of the Catholic community around the world to recognise themselves as a missionary disciple, working and praying together to share the joy peace, hope and love of God with everyone, everywhere. The season of Autumn has certainly been felt over the last fortnight. With this is mind, we are conscious that the children need to be happy and safe at school so that they are able to learn and flourish. The school is following the current Public Health England guidance to ensure that there is a circulation of air in the classrooms with windows open. We understand that as the weather becomes colder, the children and staff will feel this more in school. Although the school will be heated on a daily basis, with the windows open this will not be as efficient. Therefore, we are allowing children to wear an additional fleece/jumper over their school uniform to keep them warm rather than having to wear their coats in the classroom. The children can also wear a base layer of clothing under their school uniform too if they wish.
On Thursday 8th October, the school will take part in a, ‘A harvest like no other’; CAFOD's national online assembly at 9.30am. To coincide with this, we are asking for any donations to support our local food bank in Stourbridge. There will be a table and boxes at each designated entry point at the morning drop-off only on Thursday 8th October. These products will then be quarantined and delivered to the food bank during the week commencing Monday 12th October. Thank you for your continued support. All donations will be greatly received.

Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for all your messengers who help us to know you. Help us to be your faithful messengers, so that others will come to know the joy of loving you. Amen
Children at St. Joseph's are growing to be curious about everything; and active in their engagement with the world, changing what they can for the better.
